Context
There are many versions of smart home concepts on the Internet which pictures how our homes can benefit from information technology augmentation. Most concepts were developed in the way that “we can do it”, rather than “we need it”. Sometimes, these concepts can raise reflections and thoughts on why do we need it, how should it be embedded, who is it for?
Design concept
Everything is automated with different sensing technologies and digital controls. Almost no physical contact between the home and the people living in it. Feels like a 1990s notion of “smart” homes. Today, smart could mean other things, such as helping reduce energy consumption.
